Deep Ocean Observatories | 24/25 May 2012 | Amsterdam |
In this workshop, taking place in NIKHEF (the Netherlands), marine scientists and astroparticle physicists will jointly discuss current and future research options using deep ocean cabled observatories. Some of the current cabled observatories were constructed specifically for ocean research. Others, such as ANTARES, NEMO and NESTOR, have been built by astroparticle physicists in order to search for cosmic neutrinos. These observatories have led to major scientific breakthroughs, some of which are summarised in a recent ASPERA report: “From the Geosphere to the Cosmos”. Just before the start of construction of the first phase of KM3NeT, the cubic-kilometre sized neutrino detector in the Mediterranean sea (an ESFRI infrastructure), ASPERA considered it vital to open the floor for extensive discussions amongst scientists from different disciplines, all working around deep sea cabled observatories. > Registration (the workshop is free to attend but registration is necessary) |

ASPERA Roadmap event | 21/22 November 2011 | Paris |
European Strategy for Astroparticle Physics The Scientific Advisory Committee (SAC) prepared a complete draft of the update of the ASPERA roadmap. The new roadmap, entitled “European Roadmap for Astroparticle Physics” , will be presented on the 21st and 22nd of November 2011 at the Collège de France in Paris. This workshop will provide a unique opportunity to discuss how the priorities of European Astroparticle Physics are embedded in the European Large Infrastructure policy (ESFRI, CERN, ESO, ASTRONET), the synergies with more applied disciplines as e.g. the Geological or Environmental Sciences, as well as computing and industrial transfer actions. |
